Just the quirks of Oppo I'd say. BUT.. the 'muricans don't know the TRUE power of Pinto (unless you count the 2.3 litre in the merkur Xr4ti, that was sort of a proper powerhouse.. or not... perhaps). Check out the Ford YB engine mate :)
